Kristine grew up in Bordentown, New Jersey. She began sewing at the age of 7 for her dolls. Her mother was an exceptional seamstress in her own right, and Kristine would watch her mother make her own clothes for work. With two older sisters, with very different styles, fashion was always in play at home.
Kristine studied ballet (and still does) most of her life. She has always had an interest in the human form and movement.
In 1980, she married and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1981, she began taking classes with a local dance company, where the director mentioned she found a letter on her desk by someone looking to sew costumes - it was Kristine. Since that time she has continued to make costumes for ballet, modern, competition teams and opera.
After doing work on costumes for the opera "Carmen", Kristine met a local Latin Dance Instructor and began taking salsa classes. She created a flamenco costume for him and from there got the idea of creating a line of latin dance clothes. Kristine took notes on what women were wearing to the clubs, how clothes moved with the dance styles and asked classmates what kind of things they would like to wear. Recently, Kristine has been talking with other men to see what kind of clothes they think would work for latin dance.
Kristine has won several costume awards during her career, most recently, for the America Recycles Art Competition. She took First Place in the 3-D category for her creation of a party dress made from plastic grocery bags!
